 Tattoo Questions and Answers

QHow much does a Tattoo Cost?
A
:  Designs are priced on the size of the tattoo, the time involved to complete the tattoo, the complexity of the design, and other technical aspects of the tattoo. The price is also up to you because most designs can be made larger, more complex, and or made simpler and smaller to fit your tattoo budget. Just let your artist know what you would like and how much you have to spend, and he will show you exactly what you can get. Whether it is a large custom piece or a small symbol you are purchasing a hand crafted and unique piece of art that can never be lost or stolen. This is something that will outlast all of your other purchases. Remember, just because it's cheap doesn't mean it's good!

Q:  Do you take walk-ins or is it by appointment only?
A:
Yes!  We take walk-ins!  Usually an artist is available to help you out.

Q:  How long can I expect the colors to last?
A:
Some colors tend to last a lot longer than others, and it mostly depends on your particular skin tone and how much you're in the sun. The tattoo will last a lifetime, but remember before getting a tiny highly detailed tattoo that ink spreads over time. lots of little lines in a small area are going to be a kind of blob in 20 to 30 years. please consult your artist with what you have in mind, and they will go over this with you and answer any questions you may have.

Q:  What are the different styles of tattoos?
A:
Tribal, Fineline, Portrait, Traditional, New school, etc. Don't feel restricted by styles.

Q:  Can I bring in my own design?
A:
Of course. Just bring it in and talk with one of the artists about the particulars of the design, and they can work with you to make sure you have the design that you will be proud to wear for a lifetime!

Q:  Is there anything I should I do before I get tattooed?
A:
Yes, be well rested and eat well. Drink plenty of fluids. Bring your ID and wear appropriate clothing. Mostly though, just relax and have a good time.

Q:  Is there anything I shouldn't do before I get tattooed or pierced?
A:
Do not drink alcohol, or take drugs other than prescribed by your doctor. Do not be sunburned.

Q:   Does it Hurt?
A:    It is annoying, and it does sting a bit. The more relaxed you are the easier the process.  Within a few minutes your body will release endorphins (natural pain killers) that ease your discomfort. The experience is different for everyone and everyone’s definition of pain is different. Some spots do hurt worse than others. A general rule to consider is: the more muscular areas (arm or calf) will hurt less than the bonier areas (elbow or ribs).  The placement of the tattoo is solely up to you, because the tattoo will be there long after the pain fades. If it was that painful, people wouldn't keep coming back for a second, and third, and fourth, and, on and on…….

Q:  Is it safe to get a tattoo?
A:
If you go to a professional tattoo shop where the proper tattoo equipment is used, getting a tattoo is very safe. Decades ago there was concern about getting hepatitis C from tattoos, but this is something all professionals are very conscious of nowadays. If new needles are used for each and every customer, there is no chance of contracting a blood-borne disease. Most tattoo artists will be glad to set your mind at rest by showing you the unopened package of needles they will be using before the tattooing begins. After your tattoo is finished, they should dispose of the needles. Ask about safety policies such as these before you select a tattoo shop.

Q:  Can I give myself a tattoo at home, or have my friend give me one?
A:
Technically it may be possible, but certainly not advisable. You should have your tattoos professionally done – otherwise you’re just asking for trouble in the form of an infection or slower healing time. Do-it-yourself tattoos hurt a lot more and they seldom turn out as well as professional tattoos. All in all, it’s definitely not worth it!
